Sudden Acceleration/Unintended Acceleration

During late 2009 and early 2010, Toyota recalled millions of vehicles to address a number of defects including sudden acceleration, defective brakes and defective liftgates. Among these, sudden acceleration has proven to be the most dangerous and deadly problem. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has linked dozens of deaths to complaints of sudden acceleration. Toyota's recalls have focused on mechanical problems with its car's accelerators and floormats. Mounting evidence suggests, however, that sudden acceleration may be caused by a problem with Toyota's electronic throttle system. Toyota owners continue to complain to NHTSA about sudden acceleration even after their vehicles have been repaired.
